General Guidelines
¨ The contest is open to Lynchburg Library patrons, grade six to adult
¨ Using the attached contest cover page, include your name, phone number, and address with your entry
¨ There is no word count requirement or limit, and entries will not be judged based upon length. Stories will be judged on both creativity and originality.
¨ Entries must be original and written solely by the entrant.
¨ Each page of the manuscript must have clearly marked page numbers.
¨ Entries must be typed or neatly printed, and double-spaced.
¨ Please proofread for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.
¨ Please attach the cover sheet you received with these guidelines when you submit your fairy tale.
¨ In person: Bring your fairy tale to the Lynchburg Branch Library at 102 South Main Street, Lynchburg.
¨ Mail: Mail your fairy tale to Fairy Tale Writing Contest, Lynchburg Branch Library, P.O. Box 529, Lynchburg, OH 45142
¨ To qualify, your entry must be received by 5:00pm on Saturday, July 30, 2005. Contest winners will be selected from all qualified entries received by the entry deadline date.
¨ Limit one (1) entry per person.
¨ Winners will be announced in mid-August.
¨ Two winners will be awarded in each of the following categories
¨ Teen (Grades six to twelve)
¨ Adult
¨ First-place winners will receive a $15 cash prize and second-place winners will receive a $10 cash prize. All entries will be kept in a notebook for others to read at the library. With permission from the authors, first place entries will be featured on the library’s website at www.highlandco.org

Submitting an entry
Awarding of prizes
· Winners will be announced in mid-August. All entries will be judged on originality and design.
· One winner will be awarded in each of the following categories:
o Teen (grades six to twelve)
o Adult
The adult winner will receive a copy of the book Dragonology, and the teen winner will receive a Dover dragon art book. With permission of the artists, winning entries may appear on the library’s website, www.highlandco.org.
