The Library Cat(s)

[Very few cats are inclined to want to be Library Cats.  Many house cats seem to prefer to
interact only with a few humans that the cat has taken the time to train.
Regretfully after less than a year, Fluffy proved not to want to be a library cat and she moved in
to a private home  to receive the love and attention of a smaller number of  humans.
We miss her, but trust she is happier.
~~The guppies don't miss her quite as much as the humans.   The goldfish have "no comment."

It was a dark and stormy night in the summer of 2003, when a small gray kitten found her way to the shelter of the shrubbery beside the library.  Now, named by the children who love her, Fluffy Dickens has taken over as the Highland County District Library Cat.

Ms. Dickens takes her job seriously and oversees the Library Guppies with diligence.

Our Previous Library Cat, Sophie, joined the staff in October 1998, despite an admittedly mysterious past.  Sophie has now had to give up her work at the library as she gets car sick. She has settled happily into advising our director at home.

The Children's Room Staff at Hillsboro would not be complete without our  Staff members in charge of Serenity.  Ricky, Lucy, Oscar II and Phylix are all experts in seeing that everyone gets along just swimmingly at the library. (Lucy's the red head.  Ricky is golden. And both Oscar II and Phylix are albino snails, though their shells are quite dark.)

2007  Current Serenity Staff :
Ricky is still with us as Senior goldfish, he is helped in his work by J.P.  a smaller goldfish and by Kirby, a very serene algae eating fish who you may find cleaning the glass on the tank at any given time.
