Save Your Library - 7/21/09

Update for  7/21/09 "The 2010-2011 state budget bill signed by Governor Strickland reduces in temporary law the Public Library Fund percentage from 2.22% to 1.97%. This means public library funding has indeed been cut, although not as much as first feared.  However when this is added to the loss in tax revenue expected due to the slowdown in the economy, public libraries in Ohio are facing a reduction of approximately 30%. At this time we do not know the full impact the new budget and the declining economy are going to have on the Highland County District Library but we are trying to anticipate things as best we can.  No one knows how long "temporary" will be. We greatly appreciate the support of our patrons and will continue to be here for you!"
