May at Hillsboro 2010

This May in the Children's Department we will be celebrating Bike Safety Month and you can register to win a Bike Helmet. There will also be a chance to Count and Win the Jar of Gummy Worms at the Desk and a May Birthday Critter to be given away to some lucky child with a May birthday.

  • Thursday May 6  6:30 p.m. - Family Night : Flowers!! Everyone welcome. Downstairs in the Meeting Room.
  • Tuesday May 4 & 11 - 10:30 a.m. Storytime for 3 - 5 years

NO storytimes May 18 & 25

  • Tuesday May 18    6:00 p.m. -High School Astra Club will present an evening with your favorite book characters. For Grades 2 - 5

 

  • Closed Monday May 31 for Memorial Day

 

  • Tuesday June 1   6:00 p.m. - Summer Reading Club Kickoff

This Summer: Make A Splash, Read!
Pirate party with magic, games and crafts. For toddlers to 12 year Olds. Come and sign up to read this summer and have a fun filled evening!
Children do not need to come to this Party to participate in the Summer Reading Program, but it is usually a good time.
A New storytime schedule will start in June. Call the Children's desk for times. 937-393-3114
Upstairs:
There will be a display of a collection 1970's Black Musician Figurines in the display case.
 

  • Teens can begin signing up for the Make Waves At Your Library Summer Reading Program on the first of June.

 

  • Later in the Summer, on July 14 (Wednesday) Jeanne Read returns for an "Antique Evening" at 6:30 p.m. People will need to register in advance upstairs at the desk.

Hillsboro Library in April 2010

SPRING is definitely in the air in Hillsboro, OH. From the flowers blooming in our flower beds and trees to our “Read Before You Plant” book display, everything and everyone is ready to greet the sun in the lengthening days.
Inside the library we have a fascinating display of local plaster cast Fossil Reproductions in the display cases upstairs. And there is an exhibit of Photographic Art by Randall Branham on the walls.
 
We have a “Spot the Mistakes in the Children's Department” contest running from April 1st to April 10th for children.
Miss Betty will be having her story time for ages 3-5 on Tuesdays from 10:30-11:00. And there will be a Family Night Program on April 22 from 6:30-7:30 pm, with the theme: “Recycle, Save our Earth!
 
National Library Week is April 11-17.

Hillsboro March Events

Saturday, March 20th Spring Begins, and we are All Ready For It!
Tuesday, March 23 at 10 a.m. Library Book Sale Begins  and will run through the week (maybe longer) during library hours.
 
Children's Department:
Tuesdays 10:30 a.m.  Weekly Story time for 3 - 5 years New Family story time Thursday  March 18 at 6:30 p.m. : Windsocks and pinwheels
 

Computer Tips: Hillsboro WiFi News

Good news for those of you who had asked if it would be possible to print from your laptops!   Thanks to the efforts of Millenium Business Systems, who provide us with our coin op printing at Hillsboro, it is now possible to print though our WiFi at Hillsboro.  Pick up directions at the Circulation desk upstairs at Hillsboro.

Hillsboro Happenings December 2009

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  The Display Cases will soon be graced with Carved wooden Santa Figurines upstairs.   The Brush and Palett Guild members will have a display of their paintings with a " Winter Wonderland " theme.
 
The sign language classes will continue  Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. until the end of December, except Wednesday, December 9th when the meeting room will be busy.  Then the classes will end.
 
Downstairs in the Children's Room:
Guess how many M&Ms are in the Jar at the Circulation Desk.
 Story times will Continue until Dec. 18.

  •   Tuesdays at 10:30 3-5 year olds have a Story Time with Miss Betty.
  •   Wednesdays at 10:15 2-3 year olds and a Caretaker have a Story Time with Miss Colleen.
  •    Fridays at  10:30  3-5 year olds have a Story Time with Mrs. Thompson.

The Merry Money Christmas Shop will be open at the Alternative School (behind where the old High School was) on Saturday Dec. 5 from 10 to 3 PMAnd it will be open again in the Meeting Room Downstairs at the library on Dec. 7 from 4-7 PM  and on Dec 8 from 4-7 PM with whatever is left.
