A representative of Highland County Community Action will be at the Lynchburg Library on Thursday, March 15 from 1-4pm to inform the public about the Ohio Benefit Bank. Highland County Community Action is a provider of the web-based Benefit Bank system in Ohio. With 37 trained counselors on staff, almost any access of service links customers to an opportunity to explore the Ohio Benefit Bank . This system is designed as a 2 key system of access to screening and application for a variety of programs and benefits designed to bridge the gaps in low and moderate income lives. A counselor and a customer work together to input, screen, and apply for programs such as: Food Stamps, Cash Assistance, Medical Assistance, Child Care Subsidy, HEAP, Prescription Assistance Programs, Free and Reduced School Meals, Senior Community Employment Services, and others. The Benefit Bank also provides an opportunity for low and moderate income customers to file current and up to two years of back federal and state taxes for free. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is also available. Once entered into the system, a customer has access to all applications within the system at any Benefit Bank Site. No Benefit Bank counselor can access a customer’s information without the customer and no customer can access applications without a counselor. Come to the presentation at the library on March 15 and find out if you qualify for assistance!
